Using only borosilicate glass this one-day workshop will focus on the basics of working with boro while learning how to make beads on a solid metal mandrel. Borosilicate glass lends well to jewelry-making because of its strength and durability. Kylee will teach students how to make consistent pairs / sets of beads, and focal beads, utilizing various techniques. Processes that will be covered are torch settings, mandrel prep, layering colors, stringer use, encasing air bubbles, annealing, and cleaning beads. This class makes for a perfect introduction to flameworking with borosilicate glass, as well as a transition from soft glass to boro.
